((This is the ancient history of the Realm of the Worlds RPG planet. As stated on the ancient ruins located inside the Great Dragon Temples.))

In the beginning there were the 6 great powers that governed over the entire whole of the universe. In their desire to make things in perfect order they created the cosmic dragons to keep the balance of the cosmic elements..each containing a gem.They were created as the guardians of the cosmic elements, and their job was to keep the balance in the universe. :

There are technically 8 of them total, but only 7 are really important to the progress of the universe. the 8th one belonged to a dark dragon that was banished for his abuse of his great powers and was punished. The other elements represented by the 5 main elements, earth, fire, wind, water, and metal, the other two are the center of the balance the silver and the gold, the yin and yang, death and life. Each had their won special gifts in their own right. :

When the universe was divided into different sections each of the cosmic rulers had their own area to control. The Realm known as the Human realm was to be the turning point in the entire history of the cosmos, because of its special location in the intersection of the dimensions. The rulers over this part of the universe had decided that it needed a little more help then the rest of the universe. And decided to allow the dragons to go and remain in that realm to assist the immortal creatures in their dealings with the humans. So the elemental dragons went to the Human realm to stay.

In time the dragons grew to trust the humans and the lesser elemental dragons began to accept humans as their friends, and some even shared their power with special selected human warriors. The warriors were chosen mentally based on their loyalty to the whole of the universal balance. These warriors then became known as the Great Dragon Riders, or Dragon Warriors to some. They rode and fought along side the dragons and in return for their loyalty were rewarded with special gifts of elemental power granted to them by their elemental dragon counterparts.

After centuries of living in peace with the humans something drastic happened that chanced the course of history. Some humans seeing the power of the dragons and desperately desired to have this power for themselves. They began to hunt down the dragons and steal their power crystals for their own selfish gain. The dragon riders fought on the side of the dragons until they were deemed traitors by their own kingdoms for refusing to turn over the power of their dragons to their kings. And in doing so had sealed their own fate.

Then humans figured out that they could summon and try to capture the dragons by causing great cosmic imbalance, the elemental dragons were forced to flee and await their time to return, leaving behind only their energy crystals to keep the balance for them, but over time human kind became obsessed with finding these crystals that the dark dragon of death decided to use the humans power hungriness, and sent humans to hunt smaller lesser dragons and steal their energy crystals and forever creating more imbalance causing the main 7 to stay in hiding, all the while being forced to come out. This all causing the lesser dragons to be forced to go into hiding, and slowly one by one they were hunted down and killed.

A powerful priestess heard of the plight of the lesser elemental dragons and sought out the dragon crystals and stole them hiding them where she thought no one would ever find them. Hoping that the gifts that the great dragons had bestowed upon the humans would never fall into evil hands again. She placed a spell on the tomb containing the fallen warriors powers, as well as the spirit of the dragon's they were entrusted with, hoping that they would remain undisturbed until the great cosmic dragons could return to restore the balance again. Passing on her story to other priestesses.

But in time the humans had forgotten the true nature of the mystical creatures, and the stories turned into myth and legend. Over time the stories had evolved into that the dragons were here to kill humans and so they began to fear and loath them. Some still seeking the legendary power of the Dragon warriors, that now were believed to have hunted, tamed and controlled the dragons, but actually were granted their gifts and allowed to use them.
Only 2 cosmic dragons were left unknown when the dark dragon was first banished,the silver moon dragon of death and the gold sun dragon of life they were hidden amongst the cosmos for their protection for they were to young at the time to really stop any more damage.

The dark chaos dragon's crystal is pure evil. The only way to keep such an evil presence from destroying the universes it has to be destroyed by the combined power of the silver and gold dragon, that is the only way to purify such evil forces.
When the balance is disturbed and the cosmic elemental dragons can no longer restore the balance to the universe the dark chaos dragon will awaken to destroy it. Causing the great dragons of the sun and the moon will awaken to restore order to the universe once again. And free it from the clutches of Chaos.
